INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
I specialize in working with adults wanting to explore anxiety, trauma, grief & loss, women’s issues, race relations and interpersonal conflict. Together, we may look at past events or examine your belief system in order to bring you to a better place in your life. As part of your journey, you may gain better coping skills, relationship skills, or discover a greater sense of hope and self-awareness.

COUPLES COUNSELING
COUPLES COUNSELING
Couples often come in for counseling at a point where they believe their relationship is beyond repair. Communication has broken down, they lack trust, and intimacy (i.e., emotional, sexual) no longer exists. Giving yourselves a chance to address this in therapy increases your chance of resolution.

I first realized that I wanted to help people in the counseling profession while working as an HR Manager during the 2008 housing crisis and recession. I’d recently obtained my Bachelors in Psychology and planned to pursue a career in Industrial Organizational Psychology. However, I quickly learned that my skills lay in helping managers and employees resolve their interpersonal disputes. I learned the value of truly listening to another human being and the transformative impact of another person “feeling felt” by me. This lead me back to grad school to obain my Masters in Social Work at Clark Atlanta University and eventually towards my Clinical Residency at Heartwork Counseling Center where I trained to become a depth psychotherapist.
Today, I am a highly trained, experienced psychotherapist with a passion for helping people improve relationships with themselves and others while also cultivating more joy into their lives. I am warm, kind and direct. And I strive to be as empathic and non-judgemental as possible. I work hard to help my clients understand themselves fully, learn from their experiences, and get the most out of therapy.
I believe that you are the expert of your life. My job is not to psychoanalyze you. My job is to be curious and to help you gain more understanding of yourself. A good therapist doesn’t claim to have all the answers for why you are the way you are although I may have some ideas that I will willingly share with you. When it comes to getting answers and more understanding, we will form hypotheses together and you will come to your own conclusions. I facilitate and guide that process!
APPROACH
As a therapist, my role is to collaborate with clients in overcoming challenges to live more fulfilling, authentic, and successful lives. Happiness is not reserved for special people. Everyone has regrets, things we wish we never would have done, people we’ve hurt along the way, people who have hurt us either intentionally or unintentionally. I’m a firm believer that we can either heal our wounds or learn to carry them in order to be able to step into happiness. You deserve it just as much as the next person!
I utilize a person-centered approach and strengths perspective. This means that our sessions will begin with you and your needs. Together, we will build from your strengths to explore and examine current struggles. Sessions with me focus on moment-to-moment process. My approach is very experiential! Experiential therapy encourages an examination of how inner and outer realities define each other. I act as a process consultant who follows this moment-to-moment shaping of the realities.
PHILOSOPHY
My theoretical orientation is mainly Humanistic. Simply, we focus on your growth potential and connecting you with the resources you need to grow. This orientation essentially helps people gain a sense of their wholeness, potential and a commitment to individual awareness and expression, self-fulfillment and individual growth. Humanistic values reflect the belief about the worth and dignity of all human beings and the ultimate development of humankind.
EXPERIENCE
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Georgia State University (2002) and my Master’s degree in Social Work at Clark Atlanta University (2012). Afterwards, I completed a 3-year post graduate clinical residency at Heartwork Counseling Center (2015). I started my private practice in 2015 after completing my residency and obtaining full licensure as an LCSW. I have been trained in adult individual, group and couples therapy.
I use an eclectic balance of interventions to include: EMDR, MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy), Narrative Therapy and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). In 2015, I completed a 4-day externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Thearpy (EFT). In 2017, I completed an annual skills training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) as a prerequisite towards EFT certification. Additionally, I have worked at Agnes Scott College, Emory University and GA Tech University in their counseling centers PT while building up my private practice.
